Getting Ready

The morning started at Motown City Casino & Hotel. I was only going off of two hours of sleep but was fully energized! I was getting married today. It begin to rain that morning which put a damper on things at first and made us a little behind. Seriously it was raining soo soo soo hard! Like we were in a tropical storm or something. I headed to the salon and made a run to the reception and nearly had a major crisis! I almost ran into my hubby as he was dropping items off at the reception. Everyone was good at keeping us apart and from there me and my girls and mom were in tow heading back to the hotel to get ready. When we arrived to the hotel my photographer and make up artist were already then. I headed to the room and begin to get ready. I was so excited and nerves hadn't kicked in at this point. I was just ready to see my groom!

Up Next the Ceremony!

Can you pretty please hurry with the delivery of our professional pictures? Until then, I will be constantly stalking my mailbox until their arrival. Thanks!

Yes Motownets, our CD of pro pics are in the mail and I'm oh so excited. I have like OCD when it comes to thank you notes and it's been almost 7 weeks since our wedding and I'm ready to get these suckers out! We are doing photo thank you cards similar to our save the dates so I'm at a stand still until I get my CD of images. I did get to view the online event of our photos and I must say I'm PLEASED! Well for the most part anyways but I'll talk about that a little later. Hopefully I will have our pics in the next day or so and I will do a FULL recap next week! YAY! Stay Tuned!

The Waiting Game

Saturday going off of two hours of sleep Mr Motown and I headed to the hospital for my MRI. I was a little nervous I must admit. When they took me back to the room to get changed I tried to calm myself down by reading a magazine. Mrs. Motown they called. I walked to this cold room and got on the MRI bed. The technician went over what would happen (all of what I had already known since this wasn't my first one) but for some reason I was still terrified. I lied down and the machine started. Once inside it felt as though it was closing in on me. I panicked, told them to stop, I needed a minute. I began to cry, I was all alone (they told Mr. Motown to wait in the lobby) with this guy looking at me like I was crazy. I asked " Why do they do this to us?" I don't even know who they was but I was scared. I asked the man for any advice. He simply said just close your eyes and don't open them. I did.

During that thirty minutes so much ran through my mind. Did I have MS? How would I take the news? I then began to try to think happy thoughts so I reminisce about the wedding, my little sister, Mr. Motown to make the time past. It's something about having to hold still for 30 mins in darkness that just doesn't sit well with me. However I did it, and as crazy as it may sound I was proud of myself. I had did it! I knew it was important to get this test done as it was the only way I could be properly diagnosed.

I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy. It was scary but I'm glad I overcame my fear and finished it. The technician said 3-4 people A DAY don't finish their MRI because of fear so I guess I'm not the only one that freaked out.

Now the waiting game begins, I have another doctor's appointment on this Friday where I will have hearing and vision tests done. Then I will get all of my results on Friday, Oct 2. I want to thank all of my readers that reached out to me and your prayers mean so much to me! I wanted to share this verse I found, that is keeping my spirits up! I will definitely keep you updated as I go through this difficult journey.

Prayers Please!

Back in July I posted that my Bachelorette party went horribly wrong and ended with me being hospitalized, you can read that post here. I may have mentioned as well that I was uninsured at the time. Well now that me and Mr. Motown are married I was added to his insurance plan. That's the good news! Bad news is that when I was at the hospital a doctor read my MRI and noticed that I could have Demyelinating Disease, which can lead to Multiple Sclerosis amongst other things. I'm like wtf is that and why hadn't I've known about this. So he recommended that I see a neurologist.
This morning I have an appointment to see a neurologist. I'm so nervous, worried, scared...you name it. I googled what the disease was (I google everything) and I do have some of the symptoms but I REFUSE to claim this disease until I'm evaluated. I'm asking all of my readers to say a pray or two or three for that matter that I was misdiagnosed. We've been through so much in our first month of marriage that I couldn't imagine dealing with another situation. I know it's crazy to think this way but immediately I thought of Mr. Motown and how he would handle having to deal with something else concerning me. I was worried if he'd feel like I was a burden. (I always think of others before myself). So I talked to him about how he felt about me possibly having this disease. He simply said "For Better or Worse, In Sickness and Health". I just began to cry because I've really found a wonderful supportive man. I know some search a lifetime to experience love and some never find it, so knowing that I've married a person who is standing by my side during these hurdles, confirms that I made the right decision in marrying him (not that I was having doubts).
Well it's 2:24 am and my appt. is at Noon and I can hardly sleep. Again just asking for prayers and I'll have an update on Monday.
Love,
Mrs. Motown

Happy Birthday Momma Motown!

Sorry for posting so late but yesterday was my mothers birthday and I just got in the house at midnight. Why would a newlywed be out so late on a weekday? Well I took my mother to see our favorite opera of the world entire universe (yes we love it that much). What could be so awesome you may ask? Here it is:

Yes the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!! I love it so much! I surprised Momma Motown with second row floor seats (all the first row was sold out). We had the aisle seats which were perfect. When I say that we were so close that when the explosions went off I could feel the flame on my eyebrows! In addition to the opera I took her to dinner and brought her a nice shirt to wear for her birthday. She was so happy and doing for others gives me a kick too! The play was almost three hours long so hence why I'm posting so late. After we left the opera the whole entire car ride home she kept thanking me for such an awesome time. I simply explained to her that it was the very least I could do. My mother was a major help throughout my planning process. Whenever I was stressed or depressed she was always cheering me up, attending every dress fitting and bearing the occasional snaps too :)

I couldn't have thought of a better way to spend my regular boring Wednesday night. Not to mention that today will go in my book of memories.

Have you done anything special for your parents birthday that just blew their socks off?

Do Share!

National Grandparents Day

This past Sunday was National Grandparents day. I've never celebrated it before because until this year I didn't know it existed. As you all know my Grandmother passed the week following my wedding. Actually today it's been exactly one month since she passed. It's been hard for me trying to cope and adjust to married life all at the same time. I will say that Mr. Motown has been extra extra supportive! Back to the point; On Sunday the grandchildren all went over my grandparents house to spend time with my grandfather and clean and cook for him. He was so surprised and something so small met the world to him. I was just happy to spend time with him. Losing a grandparent isn't easy at all but my heart goes out to my grandfather. I couldn't imagine losing my husband and we've only been married a month, him and my grandmother had been married 61 YEARS before she passed. I hope me and Mr. Motown can have any kind of love and longevity they had.

I would like to share with you the last picture of my grandmother, at my wedding. They say pictures say a thousand words and they sure do!

What's In a Name? Part II

Last week I mentioned that I was going to change my name. Well I was able to do part one of that last week. I went to the Social Security office and was in and out within TEN minutes! I've always heard horror stories about how the lines at the SSO are so long. Well luck must have been with me that day. So once I got to the counter the process was painless, I handed the lady my certified marriage license, she typed in the information, printed the form for me to look over and sign it and that was all. The only downer is that I was told that I'd have to wait a day before going to the Secertary of State so that my information could be updated in the system. At first this wasn't a problem until I got home later on that night.
Later on that night I was watching the news and their was an annoucement that all State offices would be closed on Friday for a furlough day (I live in Michigan). Not to mention that this was the holiday weekend so offices were also closed on Monday. Nevertheless the process of changing my name has been delayed temporarily. I plan to go this morning to finalize this process. Some may think it's not a big deal but I don't want to have one name filled for the SSO and another one for SOS so yea it's kinda important that I don't prolong it. So today I should officially be Mrs. Motown (document wise)!
Side note: I was talking to a relative that married last year who said she has yet to change her name! I know some of us are busy but geez it seriously doesnt take 365 days to get something as simple as this done :)

What's In a Name?

Have you ever heard that phrase before? Leading up to and after the wedding I've had tons of people ask me if I was changing my last name, was I going to hypenate it or just drop it all together. Call me traditional but I never considered keeping my maiden name. I figured that taking on your husband's name solidafies the marriage. I am not saying there is anything wrong with keeping your maiden name but for me it wasn't even an option to consider.

I will say that changing your name is a process but not necessarily a hard one. Nowadays there are sites such as MissNowMrs.com that can help make this process as easy as possible.Myself on the other hand gets a kick out of doing simple things like this and it just adds to my collections of memories. I was so excited today to open the mail to find that our Certified Marriage License had arrived. Many offices require that you have the certified license and not just the one you signed the day of the wedding (depending on the state). Now the name changing process is underway as I am headed to the Social Security office tomorrow!
So leave a comment on what you plan to do when it comes to the Last Name; Keep your maiden or change it!

Running Errands

Yes with the hubby today. Now that I think about it this will be the first time we run errands as a married couple. I know your thinking "you've been married for almost a month and haven't went out with your hubby yet?" Well kinda. See Mr. Motown works 12 hr shifts so when he comes home in the morning he goes straight to bed until his next shift arrives (he works in health care) so we hardly ever get time to shop during his work week, only when he's off work.

As you know ladies like to shop and go to a million places and then complain when we return home about how pooped we are! I have to edit the million places I need to go and hit the main ones, Mr. Motown likes to be in and out of stores and myself on the other hand can literally spend hours in a single store. In any event I'm really looking forward to plans for today and we are even getting some lunch! Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase but the simple things like running errands with the hubby makes my day!
I leave you with a picture of us from our honeymoon!
