Etsy - Invitations

Hi Motownets! Hope you like the name I gave to my readers I think it's a little more fabulous than the standard "followers" :). Today lets talk invitations! I truly believe invites set the tone of what guests can expect your wedding to be. Invitations can range from less than $1 an invite upwards to $$$. I will say that your invitations should display the type of feeling you want for your wedding and also fit in your budget.

Etsy.com is a site that you can purchase/sell all things handmade. From wedding related items to clothing and everything else in between etsy has something for EVERYONE! I highly suggest you check it out. I like how you can choose everything from Modern to Classic style invites, Square or Standard sizes and really personalize them to your liking. Here are a few invite inspirations from the site.

Designed by Etsy seller designerpi. I love this invitations because since they are front and back you save money on printing on extra paper and postage!

Designed by Etsy seller mrsdstahl . I love how this incorporate the traditional 5x7 invite with the modernness of the pocket fold an it's wrapped in a monogram belly band.

Designed by Etsy seller lilribbers. Classic Damask with a modern flare.

You can view all the designs in full by clicking on the sellers name. This post will lead into my very own Invitation Suite/Stationary which I can't wait to share soo stay tuned!

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone is enjoying the extended holiday weekend! I really didn't get anything wedding related done this weekend. Well on Saturday I did go to Old Navy (two different stores) for the $1 Flip Flop Sale, hoping to add them to my bridesmaid's gift totes but of course when I got to both stores they were SOLD OUT! I heard the line were ridiculously long (people where lining up at 8am that morning!) Oh well guess you can't always get a deal on everything! Other than that I spent the weekend with family and friends enjoying the weather and yummy food! Everyone during the holiday asked Mr Motown & I how the wedding planning was going, if we were nervous and of course when were we having kids lol! It was flattering answering everyone questions and it's great to know that everyone is looking forward to our Motown Marriage!

Since I'm still enjoying the holiday I'll leave you with some gorgeous pink/fuchsia inspirational pictures from some of my favorite blogs!

Save the Dates

The purpose of taking engagement pictures where to send out save the dates to our guests amongst other things. These were created by Alex Tebow Designs who I came across on Project Weddings, you can visit there site here. Alex is very affordable and really works with you to get your envision. You will learn more about her when I introduce our invitation suite! So Alex created the postcards and I had them printed from Vistaprint using one of their free promotions. I only had to pay shipping so the total cost for 250 std postcards came under $20! I love bargains :)

Did you send out Save the Dates to your guests or was it an expense that you felt wasn't necessary?

Epics Part 2!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, I have to get used to daily blogging! So for the continuation of my last post of our engagement pictures the second location we went to was Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit. Hart Plaza is a gorgeous riverfront location that hosts tons of summer festivals and exhibits. Here are some of our favorites from the day!

The city skyline is behind us and how cute is it that a dove was flying by as the shot was being taken!

Epics in Motown

For my first post I will share our engagement pictures. We took these this past March throughout the city with our photographer Kris @ Kreativ Imaging, you can visit his blog here. It was a mere 40 degrees that Saturday and the shoot was delayed due to snowing that morning. We started out at The Heidelberg Projects, which is an outside art project on the Eastside of Detroit. The project was made of recycled trash found around the city and is quite amazing what was created out of "junk". You can learn more about the Project and it's creator here. Nevertheless the sun eventually came out and we were able to get some fantastic shots!

I like this one, it has a classic look to it which will be timeless for years to come!
By far my favorite picture of Mr. Motown & I! I think this will be the photo we display at the reception as guests enter the hall. What do you think?
....up next part 2 of the epics @ Hart Plaza !
